At Health East Ambulatory Surgical Center your doctor will work around you and help take care of your procedure date and any pre-admission testing required.

Days before your surgery you will receive a phone call from our Pre-op Call Nurse who will detail important instructions on how to prepare for your surgery. He/she will also be in charge of reviewing your past surgical/medical history as well as any current medications you may be taking. This is the ideal opportunity to ask any questions about your procedure for he/she will be extremely knowledgeable of your case.

Our registration desk will contact you to confirm your date of surgery and ask if you need transportation services that the center provides free of charge. You are welcome to bring an adult over 18 years of age with you or also have the option of coming to the center by your own means of transportation as long as there is an adult present to take you home.

Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of our surgical registration staff who will ask you to fill out any additional paperwork, sign admission documents and answer questions you may have.

  • Be sure to bring your insurance card and a form of identification such as a driver’s license, passport or military ID.
  • It is recommended to dress in comfortable clothing and not bring jewelry but should you choose to do so we have patient suites for your to put your items away.
  • It is imperative that if you are not using our transportation services to bring someone to accompany you home.

After filling out the necessary paperwork you will be taken to the Pre-Operative Suite where you will meet with a registered nurse, anesthesiologist and your surgeon to review your health history and answer any last questions you have about your procedure.  The operating room nurse will also be present during your meeting.

Following surgery you will immediately be transferred to the post-anesthesia surgery care unit (PACU) for monitoring and close observation while you are recovering from anesthesia.  Once awake and fully responsive you will be discharged from PACU and escorted back to meet with your friend/family member where the nurse will go over post-operative instructions.  These instructions provide information on how to care for the surgical site/pain medications and when to follow up with your doctor.  You will then be ready to go home and recuperate.
